Identifying Concrete

The Facts

Concrete is the most widely used construction product in the modern world.  It is also a notoriously difficult material to label, so developing technical identification solutions to overcome this problem is crucial.  The Grenfell tragedy of 2017 starkly highlights the need for identification and traceability of construction products as the investigation considers a number of factors. Including which materials were used, who produced and supplied them and conformity with recognised standards etc.  As UK building continues to grow, albeit at a slower rate than previously predicted due to multiple factors, all of which seemingly point the finger at Brexit uncertainty. Firstly we need to look at ways to ensure product traceability is achievable without recourse to massive investment – this is where labels for concrete become critical.

Barcoding

Barcoding has been around for decades but it works. Identifying products with a unique barcode which captures important data such as material code, product type, date of production, customer, handling instructions etc. is a simple but effective method.  Early identification is easy to achieve using the right label, which allows a product to be scanned at various points through its production cycle using a single label. We install and maintain robust barcode label printers which are an ideal fit to industrial production environments.  Our software packages provide the link between your production system, database and barcode product label.  Barcodes can also dovetail into your inventory control and logistical systems to support “Smart” production and automated operation. This then diminishes the opportunity for operatore error.

Tough Labels

Dura-ID is an expert in the highly specialised field of construction labels and specifically labels for concrete. We produce heavy duty self-adhesive labels which bond to damp, uneven, porous or dry surfaces. Our labels remain in place where others have failed providing long-term identification in harsh environments and all weather conditions.

In addition to self-adhesive labels for concrete we supply practically indestructible tags that attach or are cast into concrete products. These tags are flexible and crease/crush resistant supporting data readability and barcode scanning in harsh conditions.  Virtually rip proof, they also guarantee long-term identification and are available in a range of colours to support colour coding and long-range visual identification in stock yards etc.

Presale & Aftersales

Excellent customer service and technical support is what sets us apart from other label suppliers.  We will visit your production site, develop an understanding of your needs and operations and, importantly, any historical problems or bottlenecks you would like to overcome.  We use this information to put together a bespoke, workable proposal that matches your needs and budget.  Our commitment to our customers extends beyond the invoice.  We’re with you every step of the way and on-hand to guide you through any technical difficulties or new projects. You then also have a dedicated internal Account handler that will stay in touch with you on a regular basis. Their job is to ensure your labelling system is working well, remind you to order stocks of labels/ribbons, process your orders and provide updates and make you aware of any products or events which may be of interest to you.
