Horticulture Labels

Products and Services

Dura-ID Solutions manufactures horticultural and plant labels for professional growers, nurseries and garden centres across the UK. With over 40 years of experience in horticultural labelling, we understand the importance of keeping plants clearly identified throughout the growing, handling, distribution, and retail stages.

Our range of plant labels includes solutions for pots, trays, plants, shrubs, and trees, with options available for pre-printed, variable-data, and print-on-demand requirements. Labels can incorporate plant information, branding, pricing, barcodes and plant passport information, with materials selected to suit the conditions in which they will be used.

From the label itself to specialist printers and HLS Pro X horticultural labelling software, our team can help you build a complete labelling solution tailored to the needs of your growing or retail operation.

By Label Type

Plant Labels for Growers, Nurseries and Garden Centres

For growers and nurseries, plant labels help keep varieties, batches and essential information clearly identified from propagation through to dispatch. Labels can include botanical names, pricing, barcodes and plant passport information, alongside branding and customer-specific data. Dura-ID supplies plant labels for commercial growers, nurseries and garden centres, with different formats available to suit each stage of that journey.

Accurate identification helps teams manage plant varieties and batches while ensuring the right information stays with the plant as it moves around the nursery and through to dispatch. Nursery plant labels can include variable information such as variety, botanical name, pricing, barcodes and plant passport details, alongside branding and other information required by the grower or their customer.

The format of the label is just as important as the information printed on it. Stick-in labels can provide a practical solution for pots and trays, while loop-lock labels can be attached directly to larger plants, shrubs and trees. Self-adhesive labels can be applied to pots and containers, giving growers the flexibility to choose a labelling method that suits the plant, growing process, and eventual route to market.

Once plants reach the retail environment, garden centre labels have another role to play. Alongside identification and pricing, labels and bed cards can provide plant imagery, care information and branding that help customers understand what they are buying and how the plant could look once established.

Whether plants are being labelled at the point of propagation, before dispatch or closer to the point of sale, Dura-ID can provide pre-printed or print-on-demand solutions to help maintain consistent identification throughout the horticultural supply chain.

Durable Labels & Tags for Outdoor Environments

Plant labels can be exposed to watering, irrigation, moisture, sunlight, changing temperatures and repeated handling throughout growing, transportation and retail. Choosing the right material, adhesive and print method is therefore essential for maintaining clear, durable plant identification.

Dura-ID offers weather-resistant and waterproof label options for stick-in, loop-lock and self-adhesive applications. Materials including Wet-Pack Polymatt can provide durability in particularly wet environments, while our Mattrans self-adhesive range offers reliable performance on horticultural pots and containers.

Our horticultural team can recommend the most appropriate material and adhesive based on the surface, environment and expected life of your label.

Plant Labels & Tags for Every Application

Stick-In Plant Labels and Pot Pointers

Our strong and sturdy stick-in plant labels, also known as pot pointers, are a popular choice for growers, plant nurseries and garden centres looking for a simple and effective way to identify plants. Designed with a pointed end that can be inserted directly into soil or growing media, they provide clear plant identification without needing to be attached to the plant or pot.

Stick-in labels can be used throughout the growing and retail processes, from identifying plant varieties in the nursery to displaying information for customers at the point of sale. Depending on your requirements, they can include plant names and varieties, barcodes, pricing, plant passport information, care instructions and other variable data.

Available in both roll and sheet formats, our stick-in plant labels can support different ways of working. Roll-fed labels provide an efficient option for businesses using thermal transfer printers to produce labels on demand, while sheet-fed options can be printed using compatible laser printers.

Available in roll and sheet formats, stick-in labels can be supplied pre-printed or for on-demand printing using compatible thermal transfer or laser printers. We manufacture a range of sizes and thicknesses, including thicker Thermaplas options where additional rigidity is required and recyclable Laserplas stick-ins for businesses looking to reduce their reliance on traditional plastic labels.

Loop Lock Labels for Plants, Shrubs & Trees

Our loop-lock labels, also known as self-tie plant labels, provide a secure and flexible way to identify larger plants, shrubs and trees where stick-in or self-adhesive labels may not be suitable. Designed to loop around the plant, branch or stem, they help identification remain with the individual plant throughout growing, handling and retail.

Available plain or pre-printed in roll and sheet formats, loop-lock labels can carry plant names, varieties, pricing, barcodes, plant passport information and other variable data.

For on-demand printing, our Polyplas self-tie loop-lock labels combine strength and flexibility with a smooth surface for clear thermal transfer printing. For full-colour identification, Laserplas printable loop-lock labels allow growers to incorporate plant imagery, branding and variable information using compatible colour laser printers, including the OKI C651.

With more than 40 years’ experience supplying recyclable stock labels to the horticultural industry, our team can help you select the right material, size and print method for your application.

Self-Adhesive Plant Pot Labels

Our self-adhesive plant labels provide a versatile solution for identifying and branding plant pots, containers and horticultural giftware. Available pre-printed or plain for on-demand printing, they can be supplied in roll or sheet formats to suit your existing labelling process.

Labels can include plant names, varieties, pricing, barcodes, plant passport information, care instructions and branding, providing a clear and consistent way to present information directly on the pot or container.

With plant pots often exposed to moisture, watering, changing temperatures and outdoor storage, the right label construction is important. Dura-ID offers a range of durable face materials and high-performance adhesives, including our Mattrans self-adhesive or Polyolefin self-adhesive materials, with weatherproof, removable and specialist marine-approved options available for more demanding applications.

Thermal transfer roll labels and laser sheet labels are available in a variety of stock sizes, allowing growers, nurseries and garden centres to print plant labels on demand. Selected stock sizes are also available for next-day delivery when ordered before 14:00.

Picture and Full Colour Plant Labels

A plant label can do much more than identify a variety. At the point of sale, picture plant labels and full-colour horticultural labels can help customers visualise the plant at its best, communicate key information and create a more consistent branded presentation across a nursery or garden centre.

High-quality plant photography can be particularly valuable when plants are being sold outside their main flowering season or before they have reached maturity. Adding an image of the established plant, flower, fruit or foliage gives customers a clearer idea of what they are buying. At the same time, additional space can be used for care instructions, positioning, expected height and spread, flowering periods or other information that can help inform their choice.

Bed Cards and POS

Create clear, professional plant displays with our range of bed cards and horticultural banners, designed for growers, nurseries and garden centres.

Our A4 and A5 bed cards are available from stock, providing a convenient solution for displaying plant names, varieties, pricing, care information, plant photography and promotional messages. Their larger format makes them ideal for identifying plant varieties and groups while giving customers useful information at the point of sale.

We also supply horticultural banners designed to suit the OKI C651 colour label printer, allowing businesses to produce vibrant, full-colour display materials on demand. This gives growers and retailers greater flexibility to create seasonal promotions, plant information and branded displays as and when they are required.

Used alongside your plant labels and tags, bed cards and banners can help create consistent, informative and visually engaging displays throughout growing and retail environments.

Bespoke Full Colour Plant Labels

With manufacturing capabilities across our two UK sites and access to an extensive library of cutting tools, Dura-ID can manufacture bespoke plant labels in a wide variety of shapes, sizes and formats, including stick-in, loop-lock and self-adhesive labels.

Labels can incorporate full-colour photography, logos, brand colours and fixed product information. Alternatively, we can part-print your branding and other permanent elements while leaving dedicated areas for variable data such as plant names, pricing, barcodes and plant passport information to be added on demand.

This gives growers and nurseries the visual impact of a professionally printed picture plant label while retaining the flexibility needed to manage changing varieties and stock.

Plant Identification & Plant Passport Labels

For growers, nurseries, and other horticultural businesses that need to produce plant passport labels, having a flexible way to manage and print up-to-date plant information can make the process simpler and more efficient.

Dura-ID Solutions supplies plant passport label media, along with the printers and specialist horticultural software needed to create and print labels in-house. Depending on your operation, plant passport information can be incorporated into stick-in labels, loop-locks and other plant identification formats, allowing required information to remain with the plant as it moves through your nursery and supply chain.

Print Plant Passport Labels with HLS Pro X

Our HLS Pro X horticultural labelling software gives growers and nurseries greater control over the creation and printing of plant labels. Built specifically for the horticultural industry, the software allows you to create and customise label templates, manage plant information and print labels on demand using compatible thermal transfer, colour laser or inkjet printers.

HLS Pro X includes a database of over 14,000 editable plant records, supports barcodes and QR codes, and lets you customise your label layouts. This makes it possible to bring plant identification, variable information, and other label requirements together into a single labelling system.

For businesses already using HLS, our horticultural and technical teams can also provide support with HLS Pro X upgrades, data migration and the transfer of existing label templates.

Plant passport requirements can change, so rather than reproducing detailed regulatory guidance here, you can read our dedicated Plant Passporting guide for further information on plant passport requirements and labelling.

Whether you are introducing plant passport printing or looking to make an existing process more efficient, our horticultural team can help you choose the appropriate label format, printer and software for your operation.

Print Plant Labels on Demand

Printing plant labels in-house gives growers and nurseries greater flexibility to respond to changing varieties, stock levels, customer requirements and seasonal demand.

Dura-ID supplies complete plant label printing solutions combining compatible label media, specialist plant label printers and horticultural software. From durable thermal transfer printing for variable information to full-colour systems for branded picture plant labels, we can help specify a solution that works with your preferred label format and growing operation.

Flexible Plant Label Printing for Your Growing Operation

Printing on demand gives you control over both the quantity of labels produced and the information they contain. Plant names and varieties, pricing, barcodes, plant passport information and other variable data can be printed as required, making it easier to respond to changing production and customer requirements.

Solutions can range from straightforward thermal transfer printing for clear, durable variable information through to full-colour systems capable of producing branded picture plant labels with plant imagery and additional customer-facing information.

Rather than looking at the printer in isolation, our horticultural team can help specify the complete system to meet your requirements, including the plant label printer, label material, print technology, and the software required to work together.
